Sepik River Crocodile Festival
The Sepik River Crocodile Festival is a 3-day event hosted at Ambunti East Sepik Province. It was first established in 2007 by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and was handed over to the local AMB unit to implement and sustain.
In 2022, the festival committee took the initiative to register with the National Cultural Commission, making the festival a recognized event on the commission’s calendar.
The festival aims to protect the diverse wetland habitats and tributaries, creating opportunities for the tourism industry in the Sepik region and across the nation, and also supports the provincial and national government's vision of developing an inclusive economic cycle.
If you are interested in seeing these unique festivals join us on the 05th-07th of August 2024 at Ambunti and let's celebrate the culture of our Sepik people together.
Together, let's keep PNG's culture strong and connected, honoring the values passed down by our ancestors."
